I moved to the USA from India in 1998 with a dream to make it big and look for career opportunities.
Moving to a new country with a different culture and varied environment was challenging.
I came here with a considerable debt, but incredible support from my brother-in-law, Anil Lal, and Meera Lal (my sister-in-law) made life feel like a breeze. Their immense love and support were the stepping stones to my next phase of life.
The Slow Unraveling
It didn’t happen overnight.
Like most things in life, the transformation was quiet. Subtle.
A little voice asks questions like, “What do I actually think about all this?” and “Is there more I want to say beyond the boardroom?”
I started writing almost accidentally.
I started jotting down thoughts, documenting what was working—and what wasn’t, and pens’ reflections on productivity, time, focus, the weight of expectations, and how stress has become a silent currency in our modern world.
I wasn’t writing to impress anyone. I was writing to understand myself.
Who I Am Now (and Why I Write)
I’m Anshul Kumar - A productivity coach, ex-revenue exec, lifelong learner, and now a full-time writer.
I write about how to live better, not busier. I write about slowing down without falling behind. I write about systems that serve us, not enslave us. I write about how we can create meaning through mindful work, storytelling, and a touch of humor when things get messy (as they always do).
You'll find posts here that are:
Tactical (how I plan my weeks or organize my notes),
Philosophical (what productivity means in a noisy world),
and Personal (stories from the trenches of life and work).
How I Got Here?
I had a decent job, we were reasonably well settled in our new abode, and we started making fantastic friends.
Then, I bumped into a guy named Sourin Rao at my job who was into blogging, and we started writing together on Blogspot.
This was 2005, and I wrote about sports, life lessons, and personal stories.
Although I was writing in India during my school and college days, this phase was like setting a foundation. I was nervous but thought of taking a plunge.
This was the phase I started loving about myself, and it gave me immense joy penning down my thoughts and feelings.
However, my career took priority, and my writing era was phased away in 2016. At this time, I focused on my job, travel, and family. But I always felt that this was something I needed to get back with.
One day, I came across a platform called Medium. I’m still here writing on this platform about productivity, reviewing tech apps, sharing my personal stories about life lessons, and so on.
More importantly, I started with Substack as I connected with

I love writing my content for Medium, my YouTube channel, or the Substack newsletter.
