Everyone's Selling. No One’s Listening. Now What?
How to stay human, helpful, and heard in a world of constant noise?
Dear friends,
Let’s be honest.
The internet feels like a crowded bazaar right now—everyone's shouting from their stall, peddling courses, newsletters, templates, AI prompts, and coaching services like there's no tomorrow.
But while the number of sellers has exploded, the number of buyers is not quite keeping pace.
This isn't a market crash—it’s an attention crash. And it’s affecting creators, indie writers, solopreneurs, and side hustlers alike.
But here’s the deal: the problem isn’t that people don’t want to buy—they don’t want to be sold to. There’s a difference.
The New Buyer Mindset
We’re no longer in the pandemic-fueled gold rush where every Notion template could make you a thousand bucks overnight.
Audiences today are wiser. Overwhelmed. Skeptical. And above all, selective.
They’re asking:
Is this solving a problem I have?
Do I trust this person to guide me?
Do I feel connected, or just targeted?
If you're a creator trying to make an impact (and a living), you might feel stuck between offering value and needing validation, in the form of clicks, shares, and revenue.
But I’ve been noticing something fascinating…
The creators who are still growing aren’t the loudest—they’re the clearest.
They’re not selling harder. They’re resonating deeper.
Let’s break down what that means.
1. Lead with Help, Not Hype
Remember the last time you clicked “Buy” on something online? You probably didn’t do it because the ad screamed at you. You did it because it spoke to you.
People are craving clarity, not cleverness.
Instead of “Buy my AI productivity toolkit,” try: “If you’re overwhelmed with tools and still not finishing tasks, this system might help.”
Use Case:
One writer I follow recently paused all her “launches” and started offering 15-minute office hours for overwhelmed freelancers. She booked solid for weeks, and her newsletter subscriptions tripled. No funnel. Just a human connection.
2. Embrace Generosity as a Growth Strategy
In a market where wallets are tight and trust is tighter, giving away real value is no longer a “hack”—it’s the baseline.
The fear is real: “If I give too much away, why would anyone pay?”
Here’s why:
Because people don’t pay for information, they pay for transformation, clarity, and convenience.
Use Case:
I once gave away a complete checklist on “How to Plan Your Week the Night Before.”A few months later, one of my readers hired me to coach his entire team—because the free stuff worked.
3. Be Consistent, Not Constant
You don’t need to show up daily. But you do need to show up meaningfully.
Posting daily with filler is like knocking on someone’s door every morning with an empty coffee cup.
👉 Instead: be the one who knocks once a week—with a warm croissant, a story, and something that genuinely helps them get through the day.
Consistency builds trust. Constant noise erodes it.
4. Your Audience Isn’t “Cold” — They’re Cautious
If you’re feeling ignored—emails unopened, social posts ghosted—don’t jump to blame your content or audience.
Zoom out: people are distracted, overstimulated, and cautious in uncertain times.
💡 “People don’t hate being sold to. They hate being cornered.” — My favorite copywriting mentor
So instead of chasing conversions, pursue conversations. Leave room for curiosity. For timing.
5. Trust Builds Brands. Speed Breaks Them.
Everyone's trying to “scale.”
But scaling something that doesn’t profoundly connect is just putting a loudspeaker on a weak message.
Right now is a perfect time to slow down and sharpen your voice.
Refine what you offer, and why you’re the one saying it.
And how you make your audience feel.
What I'm Doing Differently
This week, I rewrote my homepage and emails with just one filter: Is this me being helpful or needy?
I deleted four scheduled posts, rewrote my welcome email, and simplified my “About” page because clarity wins when competition is noisy.
And I invite you to do the same.
My 2-cents
If your work isn’t selling right now, don’t assume it’s terrible. It might just need more heart, more humanity, and a little more patience.
Keep showing up. Keep serving. And don’t underestimate the long tail of trust. Because when the tide settles, the ones who stayed honest will still be standing.
With you in this,
Anshul
